About Us

Club sports are student-led organizations that enable athletes to continue playing competitive sports in college, while primarily focusing on academics. UC Club baseball participates throughout the full academic year in both games and practices. To find out more information please read the information to below. If you are interested in trying-out or still have questions feel free to contact us by clicking the button to the right.

          Highlights

UC Club Baseball program is rapidly growing and has achieved three consecutive ten-plus win seasons, set a club record of seven conference wins in 2014, and received post-season conference awards on four occasions (2-1st Team and 2-3rd Team). In 2014 we also had out first ever contestant participate in the Demarini Longball Challenge (NCBA Homerun Derby) in Tampa, FL.

This season we are exceptionally excited to build off past season success and continue to set the bar for future seasons. With a record number of interested players and a focused offseason, we are on our way to a further improvement.

          Training/Schedule

Club Baseball is an active organization throughout the academic year. During the fall we hold our annual Red/Black scrimmage for all incoming and returning player, and play local club baseball teams in weekend series. Towards the end of the fall, when the cold weather beings to takeover, we migrate indoors for practice 2-times a week.

Official NCBA conference and non-conference games take place during the spring. During the spring we play a schedule of 25-35 games, including a trip to Tampa, FL to participate in the NCBA Spring Training Showcase.

          Community Service

A strong emphasis and tradition has been built over the seasons to establish a team commitment to improving and giving back to the youth in the greater Cincinnati area. Over the past three seasons UC Club Baseball has teamed up with Cincy Elite Baseball Academy to volunteer our time to support their Little Slugger Camps. This enables the club to give back to the community in the best way we know - through baseball!

          Open Call-outs

Initial call-outs take place during the entire fall season and a short tryout period is available in the spring. In the fall all interested players will have the opportunity to play in the Red/Black scrimmage and respective fall series for the chance to make the spring roster. Call-outs run the length of the fall season to allow players the ability to become acclimated to class workload so each student does not feel the need to sacrifice their academics.

After the fall season is complete the roster will be narrowed down to 20-33 player that will compete in NCBA sanctioned games and participate in offseason conditioning/workouts. A short tryout period will take place after winter break, but interested players are strongly encouraged to participate in fall tryouts to display their talents.

          Player Expenses

The University of Cincinnati makes a contribution to the club team for expenses; however, the expenses for training and games exceed the amount the team receives. Every effort is made to keep the team fees to a minimum by organizing fundraisers, volunteering our time, and diligently researching cost effectives alternatives for operating expenses. We do not want the associated costs to exclude anyone from participating.

Based upon past seasons, player dues are projected to be the range of $350.00-$550.00 plus an additional $100.00 to $150.00 for our annual Spring Training Trip. The dues will vary according to the amount of games played, travel schedule, and required team uniforms. To get an idea of the associated costs, hosting a four-game weekend series against a Mid Atlantic West conference team costs approximately $1,200.00, which only includes field rental and umpires.
